3* Assessment Day - Saturday 17th October 2009

On a 'chillier' Saturday in October 2009 Dave Rawlinson, ably assisted by Richard Stepien and Steve Earl, put six aspiring paddlers through their paces. Here is a little of what they got up to .....

Round Hayling Island 4 the RNLI

The cheque for £1223 raised by the charity paddle was handed over to the the RNLI on Saturday by the organiser and driving force, Ingrid.

She was supported by a group of Club members, can you recognise them out of their paddling kit?

Just to remind you, here are just a few of the paddlers on the day,

and Ingrid on the water.

Thanks to Beverley for the photos.

Beachy Head, Sunday 27 September

Sunday's paddle had Tony leading us along an unfamiliar stretch of coast,

past the Seven Sisters,

and around Beachy Head, in near perfect conditions. Great paddle!

Sunday 21 September Lee on Solent to Ryde

Warm, sunny, calm sea, all looked well for the paddle across the Solent.

We passed the East Bramble east cardinal, letting the tide carry us down onto

the SE Ryde Middle south cardinal,

where we had to wait for a couple of ships,

before pressing on to Ryde. Lunch, a look at the Ryde Classic car rally, and an uneventful ferry glide back.

Wednesday Evenings

No need to give up paddling just yet. Last night in Chichester Harbour was warm, despite the north wind, with a fine sunset.

At the end of the week, there was a big party for everyone. All we had to do was bring a dish from our native country. Easier said than done for the Brits !! but we made do.

The star attraction was from Catalan, Spain José with the leg of wild Boar.

The samon sarnies went down well.

The legendary poet Rainer with his chocolate sauce

Serge (Monsieur Pot Noodle) serving Oysters and Crabs caught fresh from the local bay.

One of the evenings entertainment. This guy Rocked !!!

Ilé Guenioc,
