Eastney to Ryde - 25 April 2010

Sandy Point to Dell Quay ~ Sunday 18th April 2010

Thirteen members opted for a lay in on Sunday, joining the easier paddle from Sandy Point to Dell Quay. We launched at 11.30am in glorious sunshine from the golden sands of Eastern Hayling onto a flat calm sea and set a leisurely pace across the mouth of a benign Chichester Harbour. Aided by a slight SW and an incoming tide we shot up the harbour, our only inconvenience being how to keep cool!

We landed for lunch at Dell Quay under the gaze of a packed 'Crown & Anchor' before returning with the outgoing tide, appreciative of the breeze that now cooled our faces.

Around Hayling Island 15th April 2010

Last Thursday six members answered Tony S's call (ok..., post) to join him on a circumnavigation of Hayling Island. With best laid plans abandoned, we found ourselves (as you do) dutifully mustered on the beach at Eastney and looking forward to a relaxed pootle around the island...., we should have known better; "what the b*$$dy h&*l was Metcheck on about? ~ 12mph winds?"

Portchester to Fareham 11th April 2010

Last Sunday the residents of Portchester village awoke (in that sleepy village kind of way) to a hustle of activity and a wash of colour, as 25 PDCC members and their assorted kayaks decended on the picturesque hamlet. In a flurry of activity; bodies, kayaks and associated equipment were efficiently transported the couple of hundred yards to the waters edge where, as has become the custom; we enjoyed a friendly welcome from the sailing club officianado's as they gestured toward the gallows, erected the day before on hearing of our intention to use 'their' slipway..... Ok, I exaggerate.
